Strategic Planning
Most businesses and not-for-profit organizations can greatly benefit from strategic planning - - visioning for their short-term and long-term future.

Most businesses and not-for-profit organizations do strategic planning processes. Many of them work well. Some don't.

My approach to strategic planning takes the concept to a higher level. It includes visioning long-term, even beyond 10 years, and I suggest a unique optional team-building approach that includes a time capsule exercise mentioned in another part of this WEBSITE.
  • STRATEGIC PLANNING AGENDA:

  • A Discussion: Where are you now?

  • A Discussion: How did you get here?

  • Brainstorming: Where do we want to go in 5 years?

  • Further Brainstorming: Where do we want to go in 10 years?

  • Specifics: Identifying The "Possible Things."

  • Action Plan: Getting There From Here.

  • Optional Team-Building Time Capsule Exercise.
Effective strategic planning takes about 4 hours at least, and a one or two day schedule is especially useful, involving at least the decision-makers of your business or organization and board of directors. A two-day schedule that involves 3 hours on one afternoon, followed by 3 hours the next day or on a subsequent day after some critical thinking and analysis has been done, and 2 or 3 hours to wrap up is very desirable. More extensive strategic planning schedules can be useful for larger groups or more detailed planning.
