Stress Management Workshop
STRESS. We all know about it. We all feel it at times. But often we don't know what it really is.

Too often, we create unnecessary stress in our jobs. An "excellent workplace" isn't going to be an environment free of stress - - in fact, stress sometimes is a good thing. But an excellent workplace is a place where fellow employees work together to reduce stress in the workday of everyone.

This Workshop is full of tried-and-true exercises and tips about how to identify stress, how to control it, and how to avoid it. The objective of the Workshop is to encourage employees to consider stress as something that we can do something about. Awareness of the problem is key to solving it.

Bottom line, if you're a "bottom-line" sort of businessperson - - stress in the workplace reduces productivity and causes early burnout. In the workplace, I have found that stress in large part comes from the way we do our jobs and the attitudes of the people who we work with, not the kind of jobs we do or the customers. A little change in the workplace here and there can reduce stress factors, and this Workshop will help you identify those changes you can make.
  • STRESS MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP AGENDA:

  • What is stress?

  • What causes stress?

  • Workplace stress - taking a look at what causes stress at your business or organization.

  • The Big Picture - looking at where you're going, that there is a day after tomorrow.

  • Techniques of controlling stress, including the Workplace Walkabout, giving compiments (because you feel good when you do), eating right, sleeping right, and playing at work.

  • The Stress-Reducing 5 Minute Vacation.

  • Pacing your workload and adjusting your approach toward work, beginning tomorrow.
Because of increasing workloads in many workplaces, employees face stress that results in lost productivity, inefficiency, and early burnout. One of the primary reasons given for quitting a job is the stress that an employee might feel there.

By everyone getting together to learn more about stress and to identify ways to reduce it, your business or organization can avoid excessive turnover and make for a more excellent workplace overall.
Stress Is Not Only

A STRESS TEST

1. Do you have a bit of a difficult time getting along with people at work?

2. Do you have more than two or three "temper moments" a week at work, where you just can't help but tell someone off in an angry way?

3. Do you feel more than usual that you could just walk out on your job and quit?

4. Are you finding that instead of working with others you just want to do it all yourself, not "delegate" or share the workload with others?

5. Are you finding that you are talking "at," "to," even "down to," fellow employees, rather than "with" them?

6. Do you get moody, especially when going to work or at work?

7. Do you spend a lot of time at home thinking of things and people at work, in a negative way?

8. Are you at the point in your life that you just don't care about work, other than the money it brings in?

9. Do you find your work or workload affects your health in a bad way, or causes you to eat or smoke too much?

10. Are you always looking for a new job in the newspapers?

If you're answering "yes" to several of these, your level of stress might be getting way high, and it's time to do something about it.
